About Center of Excellence in Cyber Security @ CIT
Cyber security has become more important than ever before in today’s digital life. Due to the unprecedented surge in cyber-attacks, the demand for cyber security talent in various industries in India will increase. The field of cyber security brings in many job opportunities as organizations are always on the lookout for skilled professionals, who can protect the companies’ information and ensure that data is not breached. According to an estimate, the cyber security market in India is expected to grow from USD 1.97 billion in 2019 to USD 3.05 billion by 2022.In response to the above demand, there is an imperative societal need to prepare the students to meet the future industry requirements in the area of Cyber Security. CIT has been earmarked as one of the Centers’ of Excellence (CoE) in Cyber Security in association with Information sharing and Analysis Centre(ISAC) & SkillsDA, Chennai.

Preamble
Technological advancements and the internet had a tremendously positive impact on innovation and opened doors for unlimited opportunities. At the same time, it has also exposed humankind to unprecedented challenges. This new virtual space has now become a breeding ground for criminals, owing to the anonymity guaranteed to users, putting at risk citizens’ security, society’s social fabric and national interest as well. The lack of digital literacy often results in people becoming easy targets of crimes, especially harassment, abuse & frauds.
The field of cyber security brings in many job opportunities as organizations are always on the lookout for skilled professionals, who can protect the companies’ information and ensure that data is not breached. There has been tremendous growth in the number of cyber security jobs in the near future. At present there is no well-established center with state- of -the – art facilities for cyber security in coimbatore and there is an imperative societal need to prepare the students to meet the future industry requirements in the area of cyber security. CIT-TLC- CoE -CS is established to bridge the skill gap in cyber security domain and thereby satisfy the industry requirement for wide range of cyber security roles.
Who we are?(CIT-TLC- CoE-CS)
Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) has been granted Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) under PMMMNMTT Scheme, MHRD, and GOI in the year 2018. CIT – TLC is established with the objective to improve the quality of teachers of technical education institutions in the regions of Tamil Nadu (West), Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. From its inception in the year 2018 to till date, the Centre has served the training needs of around twelve thousand three hundred and fifty-eight teachers & students (12,358) pan India. CIT-TLC is continuing its activities in the area of faculty training focusing in the thrust areas of Academic, Research and Management (ARM).
As its next milestone, CIT-TLC has initiated a new vertical in the domain of cyber security. In-line with National Cyber Security Strategy 2020, CIT-TLC has established a “Centre of Excellence” (CoE) in cyber security with the support of TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) and SkillsDA, Chennai for capacity building in the area of cyber security.
The cyber security CoE facility at CIT-TLC aims to act as a facilitator for capacity building and developing cyber security experts in the region. The centre has a new 20,400 sq. ft. building with centralized air conditioning facilities which is most appropriate to house the CoE in cyber Security. The facility has training rooms, conference room and a simulator for enabling trainees to participate in experiential learning. All the trainings are conducted by highly experienced practitioners from SkillsDA, Chennai who are our knowledge partners and collaborators.

ISAC is an international non-profit, solving large problems impacting the connected, digital world on cyber security.
TATA Consultancy Services has provided a one-time financial grant for the establishment of the Center of Excellence (CoE) in cybersecurity at CIT-TLC. TCS shall be getting the first chance to recruit the students trained at CoE-CS based on its requirements. TCS shall be able to use the CIT-CoE as its extended training facility to train its associates as needed.
